Airglow in The Outback

Steve shot this amazing night scape image near the town of Condamine in Queensland, Australia. The night skies in regional areas of Australia are spectacular for star gazing and astro photography. This particular night not only had the Milky Way Galaxy in fine form, but there was also a colourful show of ‘Airglow’ as well. People often get Airglow and Aurora mixed up however they are not the same. Airglow is not usually visible to the naked eye and is generated differently in the atmosphere compared to Auroras.
